Jess & Ben’s
An accurate-ish accounting of
adventures around the world
Tokyo
We tried a tea ceremony event for tourists and learned a lot and also wore kimonos!! It was so fun and difficult and very entertaining.
We also went to a coffee tasting. Don’t ask me anything I don’t remember.
We explored the Shinjuku neighborhood at night, where I convinced Ben to try karaoke and he enjoyed it!! It’s much better when there aren’t any strangers.
More on Kyoto
Ok. I’m biased. I’ve been to Kyoto before but I still love it. Fushimi Inari is literally my favorite place in Japan. It’s a shrine with all the tori gates donated by companies who have done well. We hiked to the very top of the mountain (I died but did it). Took us a lot longer than it was supposed to but I blame Ben for taking pictures not me for hiking so slowly lol.
We also saw the imperial palace (underwhelming) the golden shrine and the silver shrine (too many school children) and heian shrine which was so pretty! So lots of shrines. We got a shrine book as a souvenir and also lots of other things of course.
Lastly we hung out in Gion for drinks and chicken and it was delightful. Ben also got a new camera to play with.
Ok we are lazy and are already home but here is a catch up post.
Osaka has a castle.
Kyoto has all the things.
Nara has deer.
Tokyo has karaoke.
Enter Japan
Or try to and find out you left your passport on the last plane…cough cough… Ben…. But alls well that ends well and he made it just 9 hours late to Osaka!
And to start off our journey of course we have to go to universal studios japan! Unfortunately Nintendo World was sold out by the time we got there so we had to make do with some butter beer in Hogsmeade.
A quick break for laundry then off to Dotonbori Street for some shopping and maybe a drink or two!
